The “Old People’s Nursing Home” of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, houses 50 women and men. People like Baba Shura (86), Dedushka Boston (74) or Baba Tamara (63).
It gathers nationals of Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Muslim and Russian orthodox meet atheist beliefs. Veterans and workers encounter former academics and government staff to form an extraordinary treasury of stories, fates and destinies.
Their combined age collects over 3500 years of lifetime. Revealed in thousands of beautiful wrinkles stretching across decades of Central Asian and Eastern European history; from early Soviet times to the era of Glasnost and Perestroika to the new age of independence and globalization.
Many of the elderly have lost touch with their relatives, were abandoned, friends have died. And so they learn to forge new alliances in their last home, to live together.
