These images belong to the 56 orphaned or abandoned children living in the state-owned orphanage in Jabe, Bujumbura, Burundi. People like Princia (4), Dieudonné (13), or Joseph (18).
Some of their souls have been wounded, by loss or rejection, and are struggling to recover. The moments I have captured fall miserably short of the incessant energy, friendship, loneliness, laughter and tears that reside herein.
Take a moment for a journey into their world. Breathe their breath, feel their heart, walk in their shoes.
